The Spring 2015 York District Merit Badge College is open to Boy Scouts interested in pursuing Merit Badges being offered this semester.  Scouts are expected to attend in full BSA Field Uniform and be prepared with a notebook, writing instruments, any Merit Badge pamphlets appropriate to his selected Merit Badge pursuits, and any required pre-requisites completed. Scouts should bring a Scoutmaster-signed Merit Badge Application (Blue Card) to the first session.  Scouts should plan to be on time for the Merit Badge sessions selected and be responsible for acquiring all Merit Badge Counselor contact information and any assignments between sessions, especially if a session must be missed.  Remember, Scouts have until their eighteenth (18) birthday to complete Merit Badges already started (“partials:”).

Session 1 (6:00pm – 7:15pm):

  • Crime Prevention
  • First Aid (Eagle Required)
  • Fish and Wildlife
  • Home Repairs
  • Space Exploration

Session 2 (7:15pm – 8:30pm):

  • Citizenship in the World (Eagle Requirement)
  • Communications (Eagle Requirement)
  • Cooking (Introduction to requirements and suggestions, not the whole Merit Badge) [April 6 and 30 only] (Eagle Requirement)
  • Cooking (Eagle Required) and Fingerprinting
  • Fingerprinting [May 14 and 28 only]
  • Personal Management (Eagle Requirement)
  • Safety

Merit Badge Pre-Requisites:

  • First Aid – Scouts should have completed the first aid requirements for First Class prior to the Merit Badge session
  • Home Repairs – Uniforms are not required for this Merit Badge session
  • Fish and Wildlife – This Merit Badge is one required for the World Conservation Award.  Work should have been started prior to the session on Requirements 5, 6 & 7
  • Cooking – This session will focus on requirements and suggestions; no actual cooking will take place so Merit Badge completion will not occur within the Merit Badge College
  • Personal Management – Scouts will be expected to complete 90 days of record keeping to complete Merit Badge, which is outside of the Merit Badge College period
  • Citizenship in the World – Recommended for First Class Scouts and above and is required for the rank of Eagle Scout

Scouts interested in participating in the Merit Badge College should register online at york.pinetreebsa.org and bring a Scoutmaster-signed Blue Card for each Merit Badge registered to pursue and provide that card to the Merit Badge Counselor on April 9.
